First United Methodist Church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, is searching for a passionate youth leader who will partner with parents and adult volunteers to lead middle and high school students to grow into deeply committed disciples of Jesus Christ. Our bold vision for children and youth ministry is based on God’s call as processed by considerable discernment and prayer.
The youth pastor will provide leadership and direction for all church activities concerning youth ministry within a vision and framework already developed by the church (based on the Orange/XP3 model). This includes visioning, planning, implementing, and supporting youth ministry under the broader vision, mission and guidelines of the church, which encompasses a continuum for children, youth and families from birth to college.
The primary focus of the youth pastor is to lead youth and their families to develop a strong Christian faith in the United Methodist tradition by building and supporting teams of adult volunteers to teach, mentor and sustain ministry activities. These activities include weekly Sunday evening fellowship and small and large group faith development time as well as community service and missions, Bible studies, conferences, fun events and maintaining a presence in the lives of students outside of church.
The youth pastor works closely as part of our Family Ministry Team with the Minister of Next Generation Discipleship, who oversees Children’s and Family Ministry and administrative/budget activities, and a team of lay people.
If this sounds like you, please send a letter of interest and resume with three references to the Rev. Jim Bell, Lead Pastor, firstname.lastname@example.org.
